Second Best Penang Char Koay Teow In Melbourne
This used to be the only place in Melbourne where I would go for Penang Char Koay Teow until Lulu's Char Koay Teow came along.
Their taste is the closest to the authentic one back in Penang. I go there often as it is just 5 minutes drive from my office. Weekday lunch is better as there is no crowd compared to weekend. Owner from Ipoh and has been in the business for more than 30 years. They used to run their business in the city until they moved to their current Glen Waverley premise.

Penang Assam Laksa |
Their Assam Laksa is equally good. The soup is so tasty that I finished the last drop, short of licking the bowl!
Danny's Kopitiam is located at 264 Blackburn Road, Glen Waverley, Victoria 3125.

Perak Lane Fish Head Bee Hoon
This has to be one of the best Bee Hoon Soup in Penang. Located at the end of Perak Lane (Lorong Perak) towards Jalan Jelutong, this small premise by the roadside only open in the evening. There are many places like this Penang where they only operate in the evening to capture more crowd after work. It is also the culture of people living in Malaysia and Singapore to come out in droves to hawker centres at night to avoid the hot tropical sun at day time.

Prawn Noodle Soup Recipe
Prawn Noodle Soup or Penang Hokkien Mee as it's called in the food capital of Malaysia is a popular street food among Malaysian. With the pre-packed paste that is easily available in Asian grocery stores, making one of this beloved dish is no longer the secret of the select few.
Removed the prawn heads and pan fried them until its colour turns and you can smell the burnt fragrant.
Cook pork bones soup in a separate pot. Pour the soup into the frying pan with the prawn head.
Put the paste into the pan.
Cook for at least 30 minutes, taste it every now and then to check its sweetness or saltiness to your liking.
While the soup is cooking, toss in the prawn and pan fried until golden brown.
Make sure to mix egg noodle with bee hoon (rice vermicelli) to enhance the richness of its texture.
Sprinkler fried shallot on top and it's finally served!

Best Penang Char Koay Teow In Melbourne
Have tried many places in Melbourne claiming they serve Penang Char Koay Teow. Most don't meet our expectation until Lulu Char Koay Teow came into the picture one year ago. First tried them when they were still in a food court. Now they finally have their own premise in the famous Hardware Lane right in the centre of Melbourne.
We parked our car on the street about 200 Meyers away. As soon as we walked across the street, I picked up a familiar smell coming from the direction we are heading. The fragrantly burnt smell that we all crave for. The smell has already ticked the box even before we start eating it!
