Breakfast

GOOD MORNING!

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Especially when you have a busy schedule, you need fuel to keep you going all the way to noon.

有人说早餐是一天中最重要的一餐。尤其是当您的日程安排很忙时,你更加需要早餐以保持一整天精力工作

Brunch In Melbourne

Initially planned to have Japanese food on Tuesday but the restaurant was closed for Covid cleaning. So we walked further down the row to the Malaysian restaurant only to find out that they too were closed for Covid cleaning. It seems that's the new normal to have regular cleaning in order for their business to stay open.

Have no choice but to walk further down to the last shop in that row of shops and was delighted that it's opened!

咖啡店

This is the first time we have ever been to this place and surprisingly it has very nice ambience inside.

Fish & Chips

Koay Teow Th'ng @ Jalan Kuala Kangsar

The thing that I miss most about Penang is that I could have hawker food as breakfast. We are spoilt for choices as to the sheer number of variety we could choose from as soon as we wake up. It is a serious decision making process each morning as to where and what to eat simply because there are just too many places and way too much food that I want to eat each morning!

We went to Jalan Kuala Kangsar in the heart of George Town where there is a street market every morning. Before we reached the market there is this small little shop at the corner of Jalan Kuala Kangsar and Lebuh Keng Kwee. There was only one hawker stall within that shop selling Koay Teow Th'ng 粿條湯 or rice noodle soup.

I couldn't see the name of the shop as it was covered by a blind spanning the width of the shop and a few motorcycles casually parked in front of its entrance (a very Malaysian way of parking by the way).

What attracted me to try their food was that they are serving duck meat Koay Teow Th'ng (鸭肉粿條湯) as it is particularly sweeter than most other stalls which are offering shredded chicken instead.

We order an extra plate of shredded duck meat, yum!

Ferringhi Coffee Garden

Are you the type of person who likes to have breakfast but are just too lazy to wake up early in the morning? Worry no more! There is a place in Batu Ferringhi where you can have your favourite breakfast even after lunch time! It is the Ferringhi Coffee Garden besides Parkroyal Penang Resort.

Extensive landscaping around the forecourt
The interior was decorated with mini lion dance props during the Chinese New Year period

FCG is not hard to find as its entrance and forecourt are decorated with beautiful landscape making it stands out from the other outlets along the street. There were not many people when we got there as it was already past lunch time. There was a group of expatriate housewives enjoying their afternoon and chatting in the outdoor seating area. The staff were friendly and never stop smiling whenever they look at you. The whole atmosphere was simply comfortable and relaxing.

Big Breakfast At Victoria Park

It is a place where you can have all day breakfast, butter and honey, scrambled eggs, poached eggs and maple syrup. The big breakfast was definitely value for money considering its location being so close to the city. The mushrooms were simply fabulous! The coffee was also very nice. Crumpet is a nice looking tiny little cafe. It was a pleasant experience, and I'd definitely go back for those mushrooms!

Among the dishes in their menu includes crepes with strawberries, banana, nutella and cream; eggs benny; big breakfast (my personal favourite); eggs benedict with salmon; mushrooms, rocket, onion jam, grilled haloumi cheese on toast; sausage omelette; smoked salmon with feta cheese; spinach fetta and pine nut omelette.

Most people who live in Victoria Park don't even know it exists due to its very bland exterior. The interior on the other hand is acceptable with a simple mural painting on one of the feature wall. You will definitely find yourself fighting for a table as they simply don’t have enough in their tiny internal space.

Toast Box @ Changi Airport

Airports around the world are infamous for their pricy food which are higher than the market rate at all time. An orange juice can cost you $8 when you can just get it for $2 in the city. Most people would refrain from dining at the airport unless it is really necessary.

The good news is now you can find cheap decent food if you happen to visit Singapore's Changi Airport next time! It is called Toast Box and they mainly serve breakfast style meals which is good enough if you just wish to get a quick bite after you have arrived from a long hour flight and do not wish to wait until you get to the city to eat.

The interior of the place is sort of antique yet modern style kind of design. All the furniture were painted white. There are many Toast Box outlets all across Singapore and there is one at Woodlands where they play nice soothing music which really makes you feel calm in this hectic city. Unfortunately the one at Changi Airport does not have piped in music. Nevertheless, it is still a good place to visit for affordable food at the airport.
